Advancing Data Protection Policies: SCSP Meeting Insights

On May 6th, 2024, the Steering Committee of Strategic Planning (SCSP) convened a crucial meeting at the University Cultural Center (Meeting Hall) to address pressing policy matters, particularly focusing on data protection. The meeting commenced with an agenda that highlighted the review and discussion of existing policy drafts, including:

During this meeting, Dr. Faek Diko voiced his concerns over the current drafts presented at the meeting: they seemed to merge the departmental and institutional policies without clear boundaries.

Dr. Faek Diko explained the distinction between departmental policies, which evolve from processes into policies, and institutional policies, which encompass policies that evolve into processes. He underscored the importance of institutional policies with clearly defined procedures and guidelines.

Building on Dr. Faek's insights, Dr. Dawood, further directed the discussion. He assigned Mr. Harikar, the Director of IT, with the responsibility of drafting comprehensive policy proposals for data protection. Additionally, all members of the SCSP were tasked with contributing to the development of a proposal for an institutional policy for the upcoming SCSP meeting.

Despite the initial challenges with the existing drafts, the meeting concluded with a sense of purpose and determination to advance the policy development process effectively.
