The Steering Committee of Strategic Planning (SCSP) at the University of Duhok (UoD), chaired by A. Prof. Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, convened for its 26th meeting. The meeting focused on reviewing and discussing the Meeting Management Policy Proposal, as well as the draft Student Complaint and Management Policy and the draft Organizational Structure and Job Description Policy. The Committee evaluated each item, provided recommendations, and recorded decisions regarding approval and further development.
The meeting commenced with a welcome speech delivered by the Chair of the SCSP, A. Prof. Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi. He welcomed the committee members and highlighted the importance of developing and refining institutional policies to strengthen governance, accountability, and operational effectiveness across the university.
The Meeting Management Policy Proposal was presented by Dr. Alvin and Dr. Bassam Ahmed Abdullah as members of the drafting team. The Committee reviewed the proposal and discussed its role in improving the organization, documentation, and effectiveness of meetings throughout the university.
Members unanimously agreed on the necessity of the policy and approved the proposal. The Committee also selected new drafting members to further develop and finalize the policy draft, incorporating the Committee’s recommendations for presentation at the upcoming meeting.
The Student Complaint and Management Policy Draft was presented by Dr. Omran Omer Ali. The Committee conducted extensive discussions regarding the policy’s scope, procedures, and implementation mechanisms.
While members recognized the importance of establishing a comprehensive framework for managing student complaints, they concluded that the draft requires further review and refinement before it can be effectively implemented. Given the complexity of the policy and the numerous processes involved, the Committee decided not to approve the draft at this stage. The policy was returned to the drafting team for additional revisions and improvements.
The Organizational Structure and Job Description Policy Draft was presented by Dr. Dilshad Abduljabbar Haleem. During the discussion, several members observed that the document functions more as a guideline than a formal policy.
Dr. Dilshad emphasized the importance of maintaining the document as part of the university’s efforts to satisfy accreditation requirements and institutional quality standards. Following deliberation, the Committee agreed to approve the draft while recommending further adjustments and enhancements. The revised version will be presented again at a future meeting for follow-up review.
The Committee agreed that the revised policy drafts and the finalized Meeting Management Policy would be presented during a subsequent meeting for further review and consideration.
All scheduled agenda items were reviewed and discussed. The Committee approved the Meeting Management Policy Proposal and appointed new drafting members to finalize the policy. The Student Complaint and Management Policy Draft was not approved and was returned for further revision. The Organizational Structure and Job Description Policy Draft was approved with the understanding that additional modifications would be made to strengthen the document and support accreditation requirements.
The meeting concluded with agreement on the next meeting schedule and the continuation of policy development and review activities.
